The HeartWork Foundation is an IRS 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, located within Caddo Parish within the state of Louisiana with a focus on the development of at risk, underserved youth ages six to eighteen. Using the art of basketball, the HeartWork Foundation has developed a training program, called The HeartWork Institute, our mission is to use basketball techniques as a tool to develop youth and push them to a higher level of functioning both on and off the court. Basketball is a universal sport with power to unlock the limitless potential hidden inside. It’s a team sport that unites people; regardless of race, cultural differences and economic backgrounds. It is also a sport of competition and endurance.
For the HeartWork Foundation, basketball is a vehicle to navigate youth through life journeys. Our program parallels real life situations to the game of basketball. As an organization, we show our players how to possess a specific type of work ethic, sustain a focused mindset, and maintain a constant belief that they can achieve any level of success, both on and off the court. The goal is to strengthen their mind, strengthen their body, and strengthen their spirit in such a way that it transcends the game to become a natural way of behaving. Additionally, we combine this goal with the humble mindset that no one is perfect, but instead wake up every day to become a better version of you. There are many routes taken on the road to a person’s destiny, but one thing that remains the same is the test.
